About the Service

The Beeches Nursing Home opened in 1990 offering nursing care to adults with a learning disability. We have an excellent reputation for providing a consistently high standard of nursing care to residents with complex medical needs.

The home provides long-term accommodation and nursing care to 35 adults. We also maintains a single respite bed used by 8 service users.

We are committed to meeting the assessed needs of every resident by providing consistent, personalised care within a supportive and therapeutic setting.

Environment

The Beeches Nursing Home is located in the village of Aghalee, Co. Antrim. The home sits on the site of an old farm and shares the site with The Beeches Resource Centre (which occupies the converted farm buildings) and The Beeches Day Nursery.

The village offers a wide range of amenities including shops, post office, GP surgery, chemist and several places of worship. Aghalee benefits from excellent links to the local towns of Moira and Lurgan and the cities of Lisburn and Belfast are within 15-20 minutes drive from the M1 junction at Moira.

Personalised Care

New referrals are assessed for suitability for placement and once the multi-disciplinary team arrive at a decision then a care plan is prepared that details how the individual's assessed needs will be met. The care plan is prepared with the full involvement of the service user and their family or representative. Family involvement and support is a vital part of any successful service. We work hard to build and maintain a close and supportive relationship with families.

Once admitted residents benefit from a high staff:client ratio, weekly GP visits and regular input from the multi-disciplinary team. Every residents' care plan is monitored and reviewed regularly to ensure we adapt to each person's changing needs.

The home provides a range of specially designed day time activities to all residents.

Active Support

 We are committed to providing individualised support to all the home's residents. Through managing their complex medical needs we believe that every interaction has the potential to benefit the resident and our role is to support them to take advantage of every opportunity to make choices and have control over their life.

Staff support the residents to engage in meaningful activities and relationships by working consistently as a team. We constantly challenge ourselves to find new and innovative ways to engage with the residents, to maintain their independence and to respond quickly and creatively to residents changing needs.
