At The Beeches were committed to the design, organisation and provision of high quality people-centred services that meet the diverse needs, personal aspirations and goals of people with a learning disability.
The Beeches Nursing Home-established in 1990-was our very first venture into the field of healthcare. It opened with an explicit commitment to provide the highest possible standard of nursing care to adults with intellectual disabilities. We have since built an enviable reputation for our consistently high quality of care.
Taking our inspiration from the ideals of the principles of normalisation, with its emphasis on enhancing dignity and individual self-respect, the creation of choice and the encouragement of positive interactions between residents and the wider community. Our intention is the provision of safe and comfortable accommodation which promotes consistency and security for the individual within a supportive, therapeutic and enabling care environment.
At The Beeches Nursing Home we provide intensive 24 hour nursing care to residents with complex medical needs. Our ethos puts the individual at the centre of our service. We ensure that all residents receive regular visits from their GP, and can access the necessary medical and support services based on an individual assessment of their needs. We provide a range of daytime activities and events tailored to individual need either in-house or at our Resource Centre. We believe that our holistic approach is the key to our success in enhancing all our residents quality-of-life.
Our purpose built home was one of the first nursing homes dedicated to people with learning disabilities. The home has 35 permanent beds plus one respite bed. The Beeches Nursing Home provides intensive nursing care to learning disabled adults with complex needs.
The Beeches Nursing Home is situated in the quiet rural village of Aghalee, only a few miles from the town of Moira, with the City of Lisburn, Lurgan town and Belfast City no more than 20 minutes away by car.
The site itself comprises landscaped gardens including mature trees, shrubs, lawns and a large enclosed patio area.
The home is in close proximity to a GP surgery, pharmacist, shops, post office and all the normal community amenities one might need.
The building has been designed to provide the facilities and resources needed to meet the needs of a diverse client group. The planning brief focused on the need to provide an environment which assisted in maintaining the rights, independence, choice, dignity and fulfilment of each resident while ensuring safety and security for all.
