Environment
The residential home sits on a five acre site on the outskirts of the town of Ballynahinch, Co. Down. The residents benefit from the convienence of close proximity to a busy market town and access to a range of local amenities i.e. shops, post office, health centre and easy access to the attractions and unspoilt countryside of Co. Down. We are also only 20 minutes from the city of Lisburn and 30 minutes from Belfast.
The home is surrounded by well-established, landscaped grounds with mature trees, lawns and secure private patio areas.
The bespoke design provides facilities and resources required to meet the diverse needs of a challenging client group. It is of single story construction with wide corridors, naturally lit communal areas and generously sized, well-appointed support and service facilities. The residential areas are four separate "cottages" of 8 or 9 single bedrooms each. Residents are encouraged and supported to personalise their own room. Each cottage also feature well-appointed lounges, dining rooms, snack kitchens, and separate shower and bathrooms.

Personalised Care
New referrals are assessed for suitability for placement and once the multi-disciplinary team arrive at a decision then a support plan is prepared that details how the individual's assessed needs will be met. The support plan is prepared with the full involvement of the service user and their family or representative. Family involvement and support is a vital part of any successful service. We work hard to build and maintain a close and supportive relationship with families.
Once admitted residents benefit from the high staff:client ratios (that exceeds the statutory minimum), weekly GP visits and regular input from the wider multi-disciplinary team. Every residents' care plan is monitored and reviewed regularly to ensure we adapt to each person's changing needs.
Varied, meaningful and person-centred day time activity is as an essential part of a full and socially valued life and all residents are offered a range of day time activities, either in-house or at our Resource Centre.
We believe that a proactive, patient, consistent, person-centred approach is the key to our success in providing good outcomes for residents.

Active Support
A generous staff-to-resident ratio of 1:2 reflects our commitment to providing individualised support to all the home's residents. We believe that every interaction has the potential to benefit the resident and our role is to support them to take advantage of every opportunity to make choices and have control over their life. Our staff team will engage in meaningful activities and develop supportive therapeutic relationships with residents. We constantly challenge ourselves to find new and innovative ways to engage with the residents, to maintain their independence and to respond quickly and creatively to residents' changing needs.
