The Beeches Residential Home opened its doors in June 1997- sited on the outskirts of the bustling market town of Ballynahinch, County Down. Specifically designed to provide community residential accommodation to adults with a learning disability who have challenging behaviour. The premises consists of four self-contained cottages linked to a central core. Specialised care and support is offered in a comfortable, home like environment. We have built an enviable reputation for our consistently high quality of care and for successfully producing positive outcomes for many clients previously residing in hospital accommodation.
Taking our inspiration from the principles of normalisation, with its emphasis on enhancing dignity and individual self-respect, the creation of options and choice and the encouragement of positive interactions between residents and the wider community. Our intention is the provision of a comfortable home-like environment that offers consistency and security for the individual within a supportive, therapeutic and enabling environment.
Our ethos puts the person at the centre of our service. All residents receive regular visits from their own GP, as well as psychiatric and psychology professionals. Residents are offered a range of day time activities either in-house or at our Resource Centre. We believe that our person-centred approach is the key to our success in improving the quality of life of all our residents.
