Your Involvement
The Beeches has a lot of experience providing services to people with a learning disability. We believe that you have the rights to make choices about your life, to go to college, to work, to have friends, relationships and a social life and to be respected and valued as an independent person.
We believe it is our job to offer you the support to make these choices to live the life you want.
We also believe that you should actively participate in this organisation and the decision making processes of our services. We have a very active service user involvement programme at each of our services and you will be encouraged to give your views and opinions on how well we are doing and any changes you would like us to make.
Your Service
If you come to live at one of our accommodation services (nursing, residential or supported living) then it is your home and our role is to provide you with the individual care and support you need to live as independent a life as possible. You will have your own room which you can decorate as you like and all our staff are specially training to care and support people with a learning disability.
If you attend our Day Care service it provides a wide range of activities, events and training opportunities. You can choose what you want to do, the groups are small and you will get a lot of support from the staff.
Outings and Activities
We believe that you have a right to an active life that offers new opportunities and challenges. Our Day Care service provides many enjoyable daytime activities, vocational training and essential life skills and social skills training.
At our accommodation services we organise regular activities and outings. We make full use of all the facilities the local community has to offer; cinemas, restaurants, pubs, local leisure centres, bowling, church groups and Gateway clubs. If you have enjoyed attending a particular event or group we will try to make sure you can continue to do so.
Your Relatives and Friends
If you come to live at one of our services your family and friends are welcome to visit at any time. You will be able to meet with them in private or to go out. You will also be able to make and recieve private phone calls, send letters and we can provide access to email and other internet services. If you are attending our Day Care service we ask that any visitors make an appointment.
All our services want to involve your family or your chosen representative. We will keep them up to date about how you are doing, and we will ask their views on how well we are supporting you.
